Another Wiley Adventure
We returned from a visit to meet our 7-week old granddaughter in Denver, Colorado. The weather was perfect on a Friday when we landed; but we knew Denver was expecting a few inches of snow on Saturday. Virginia was experiencing temperatures in the upper 60’s…and still are Monday when I started this post. Yay! BUT, I’m finishing this 3 weeks later due to both of us catching the flu, and then celebrating Christmas and New Years.
Meeting Blake for the first time was super special for us…holding a precious life that will bring much joy to everyone she meets…is just amazing! As we held her we prayed for her and her future. Something we don’t take lightly.
If you visit Denver here are a few places to eat, visit, or stay.
Friday evening the family enjoyed pizza at Racca’s Pizzeria Napoletana (formerly Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizza). In August of this year, they were selected by Pizza Today magazine as the 2015 Independent Pizzeria of the Year. We all agreed it was the BEST pizza we had ever eaten.

We stayed at the Aloft Denver International Airport Hotel with quick access to the airport and about 20 minutes from downtown Denver. The hotel offers a contemporary, urban-inspired design with renovations to the public space and guest rooms under way till March 31, 2016. We found our room and bed to be comfortable and quiet. Look forward to seeing the updates on our next trip.

Since Denver is 2 hours behind us and we were up early, we decided to take Reba (the dog) to a couple of parks and let her run and chase a ball. There are several lakes around downtown Denver…and I don’t remember the first lake we stopped at…but did see an eagle fly overhead. I had left my camera back at the hotel…and it was too cold to get my iPhone out. The second lake we stopped at was Sloans Lake Park…which is a much larger lake with a view of the mountains in the background.

If you are planning a trip to Denver you have a comfortable and quiet hotel to stay at…the best pizza in America…and several lake parks to visit. On prior trips to Denver we have visited the Rocky Mountain National Park, Keystone for a wedding, and Estes Park. It is awesome to be outdoors..when the weather is enjoyable! We prefer warmer temperatures…we did our fair share of skiing, sledding, and ice skating when we younger. Now I am all about wearing my sandals.
So we are oft to plan our next Adventure!
‘Till Next Time!
